Arthur was born on the 19th September 1917 in Sydney, New South Wales.
After training, he was posted from No 5 reserve Pool and served with No 242 Squadron in July and August 1942, flying Spitfires in the North African campaign. He was then repatriated to Australia.
Arthur was posted out at the end of his tour for a second tour of operations with No 79 Squadron RAAF from May 1945 until the end of the war.
He had one confirmed victory when he was with No 457 Squadron in 1943.
Arthur stayed in the RAAF until May 1949 gaining a post-war service number O210500.
